Under the supervision of the interview coordinator, the incumbent performs the following tasks:                                                                       

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Arena attendant):

The maintenance worker performs maintenance, cleaning, surveillance and control tasks at the arena.

  • Performs general maintenance of the premises:
  • See to the housekeeping of the arena, that is to say the floors, walls, toilets, bay windows, exterior snow removal which is not included in the snow removal contract;
  • Performs maintenance and repair work on both the building and the machinery;
  • Performs maintenance work outside the arena;
  • Maintain the ice surface using the ice machine or using simple and appropriate tools;
  • See to the constant surveillance of the premises and the maintenance of order in the arena and outside;
  • Ensure a control at the gates of the rink for the periods of activities open to all;
  • Prepares and performs overnight deposits;
  • Receive or deliver the goods;
  • Identifies and reports to his superior any breakage of equipment, lack of supplies, etc. ;
  • Procures the purchase of the merchandise according to the purchasing policy in force;
  • Carry out ticket sales and ice rentals;
  • See to the sharpening of clients' skates, if necessary;
  • Performs any other related work that may be entrusted to him by his immediate superior.

(Daily component):

The incumbent performs various manual and customary tasks in the various activities of the City, namely:

  • Performs various manual cleaning, repair, general maintenance, etc., on the various municipal infrastructures, at the request of his superior;
  • See to the installation of the appropriate equipment, infrastructure, etc.;
  • Occasionally moves furniture and equipment;
  • Notifies his superior of any anomalies he notices;
  • Uses with good use the tools and equipment entrusted to him;
  • Perform any other work relevant to the function.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a high school diploma (DES) or a certificate of equivalence of level of education of the fifth year of secondary school;
  • Be able to perform complex manual work;
  • Be able to use various tools;
  • Be able to operate motorized equipment;
  • Have a good sense of human relations, a spirit of initiative and good dynamism;
  • Have a minimum knowledge of a computer system;
  • Be skilled in using simple tools such as mower, motorized mower, small blower, small motorized blower, etc .;
  • Be the holder of proof that they have taken the safety course on construction sites;
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a medical certificate of good health and a negative criminal history form;
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license;

CLASSIFICATION: Arena attendant and day laborer (Class 3 blue collar workers under the collective agreement in force)                                    
EXPECTED DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal position lasting 27 weeks annually
WORKPLACE : Territory of the city of Gaspé and the Luc Germain de Gaspé civic center
WORKING HOURS : 40 hours per week (according to a day, evening and weekend schedule)
HOURLY WAGE :  Starts at $ 23,856 / hour
