The city of Gaspé is still looking for lifeguards for the summer of 2023 to complete its team.

Under the supervision of the sports and leisure facilitator, the incumbent will mainly have to perform the following tasks:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the surveillance of swimmers bathing in the part delimited for this purpose;
  • Ensure the safety of bathing places and bodies of water;
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations at the beach;
  • Give first aid to people in need;
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the premises;
  • Report to his superior any anomalies he notices;
  • Perform all other duties related to the function.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a valid oceanic and/or continental lifeguard certificate, issued by the Lifesaving Society, or a national swimming pool option lifeguard certificate if it is impossible to recruit holders of an oceanic and/or continental beach lifeguard certificate;
  • Be a student and be at least 16 years old;
  • Be in good physical condition;
  • Have a good sense of responsibility.

WORKPLACE:                   Haldimand Beach
EXPECTED TERM OF EMPLOYMENT : from June 19 to August 20, 2023
WORKING HOURS:            Maximum of 40 hours per week
EXPECTED SALARY 2023:          Between $ 16,13 to $ 18,52 (depending on skills and function)

SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Director of Major Projects, the job holder:

  • Plans, coordinates and controls the progress of various municipal projects (roads, aqueduct, sewers, buildings, parks, playgrounds, lighting, drinking water, water treatment, etc.) carried out internally or externally in order to ensure compliance with deadlines and budget;
  • Performs cost estimates, feasibility studies for carrying out municipal works;
  • Liaises between City stakeholders and external stakeholders (citizens, government departments and professionals);
  • Identifies and plans the City's needs in terms of developing new municipal services, upgrading and improving infrastructure;
  • Provides technical support to the various City departments;
  • Assists and advises the director of public works with regard to various files.

REQUIRED PROFILE : 

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and 5 years of experience (other combinations of functions and experience could exceptionally be considered);
  • Possess very good skills in the computer environment, including Autocad software;
  • Demonstrate great skill in planning, controlling and coordinating files in general and project management;
  • Demonstrate a great sense of organization and a lot of autonomy;
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license;
  • Be the holder of the safety certificate on construction sites or obtain it within 6 months of starting work;
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a medical certificate of good health and a criminal history form.

COMPENSATION:   Executive position from $80 to $602 plus pension plan and group insurance plan.

SUMMARY OF THE FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Director of Major Projects, the post holder will perform the following tasks:

  • Prepare and draft calls for tenders for professional services and works as well as cost estimates for professional services;
  • Analyze, evaluate and verify the technical quality of plans, specifications and project reports presented by consulting firms;
  • Monitor and manage contracts awarded, including financial, schedule, technical and construction site monitoring;
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, municipal regulations, laws and codes in force as well as applicable provincial and federal regulations;
  • Estimate costs and manage municipal infrastructure construction projects in the field of aqueduct, sewers and roads;
  • Develop plans for submission and construction, specifications and quantity slips;
  • Provide office and site surveillance;
  • Collaborate with several stakeholders (architect, engineer, urban planner, contractor, surveyor, director of services, municipal inspectors, etc.);
  • Monitor and supervise the execution of works and construction sites. During this supervision, he may be called upon to direct internal and external personnel;
  • Capture data in the field with surveying and geomatics tools and perform various tasks related to the collection, processing and integration of spatially referenced data.
  • Produce and update various spatial reference databases, maps or corporate plans from various sources (surveys, GPS, aerial photographs, plans, surveys, etc.).
  • Update plans representing municipal infrastructure;
  • Manage various requests from departments and the resulting reports;
  • Issue authorizations for water/sewer connections and monitor them;
  • Ensure the management and follow-up of complaints and requests (citizens) in relation to the projects;

REQUIRED PROFILE : 

  • Hold a university or college diploma in one of the following fields: civil engineering, architecture, geomatics, project management or be a candidate for the engineering profession (CPI) or any other training and/or relevant experience;
  • Have a minimum relevant experience of 3 to 5 years, including 2 years in the field of municipal infrastructure would be an asset;
  • Have experience in planning, carrying out, supervising municipal infrastructure construction works and drainage works;
  • Be able to read and interpret plans, quotes and specifications;
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships while focusing on collaboration;
  • Have autonomy, initiative, a good sense of organization, analytical skills and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Have ease with the usual computer tools (Microsoft Office suite) as well as Autocad and GIS software and the use of tools related to geomatics (electronic logbook, level, GPS and total station);
  • Possess a valid class 5 driver's license and an ASP Construction card;
  • Have good knowledge of project management, planning and budget control;
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports;
  • Be customer service oriented;
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, great autonomy and an ability to manage stress;
  • Have an excellent command of spoken and written French;

COMPENSATION:       Executive position from $63 to $158 plus pension plan and group insurance plan.
