New procedure for book loans in libraries

Reopening of the municipal libraries of the City of Gaspé: New procedure for lending books to libraries

In order to comply with the health rules issued by governments and public health, measures have been put in place and a completely new procedure is proposed to ensure the loan of paper books.

Subscribers attending municipal libraries in the City of Gaspé can once again have access to their library shelves.

The health instructions are those in force and recommended by the Public Health Department.

MEASURES IMPLEMENTED IN MUNICIPAL LIBRARIES

1. DURING YOUR VISIT TO THE LIBRARY: (some are by appointment only like l'Anse-au-Griffon and St-Majorique) (Petit-Cap and Cap-aux-Os open in September only) (Rivière-au -Renard, Anse-au-Griffon and Gaspé are open to the public)

  • Wearing a mask is compulsory;
  • Use the disinfectant liquid made available to subscribers;
  • Limit the number of people in the library when the 2 meter cannot be respected;
  • Respect for the principles of physical distancing;
  • Transparent partitions are installed at the service counters;
  • Individual space and movement markers are clearly identified on the ground;
  • Any returned volume is placed in isolation in accordance with the recommendations of the authorities (72 hours);
  • Hygiene measures are in place to effectively maintain materials, equipment and surfaces.

2. THE VARIOUS ACCESS PERMITTED TO USERS:

  • Free access to collections: choose, reserve volumes, request inter-library loan (ILL);
  • Loan counter: The subscriber passes his card if possible himself in front of the bar code reader and do the same for books. The subscriber must bring his bag;
  • ILL request: The subscriber completes the online form: (http://ville.gaspe.qc.ca/services-municipaux/loisirs-et-culture/bibliotheques);
  • Either by phone or directly at the library during opening hours;
  • The subscriber must have the amount in cash for the payment of the fees of $ 2 for inter-library loan (ILL) and new releases.
  • Only one person per family is allowed to choose and borrow volumes.

1. I RETURN MY BOOKS

Please consult table presenting information specific to each library in the context of a pandemic.



  • At any time, the subscriber can use the book chute to return volumes;
    (Libraries of Rivière-au-Renard, Cap-aux-Os and Alma-Bourget-Costisella de Gaspé)
  • Books should not be disinfected at home as this could spoil them and costs could be charged. Only the team of volunteers from the library manages this operation;
  • A quarantine is mandatory on return of the volumes for a period of 24 hours.


2. I CHOOSE MY BOOKS

Go to the catalog of the BIBLIO GIM Network to select a maximum of 5 books.

3. I BORROW MY BOOKS

At any time, you can complete the order form available on the Town of Gaspé website further down on this page. Each request will be processed by the municipal library concerned.

Telephone order
By contacting your library directly during opening hours.

4. I COLLECT MY BOOKS

  • An email or telephone notification informing the subscriber that he can come and collect his volumes from the library is sent. It is important to wait until you receive this notice before going to the scene.
  • During library opening hours.
  • Only one family member can come to the scene.
  • The subscriber must have the amount in cash for the payment of the fees of $ 2 for inter-library loan (ILL) and new releases.
