NOTICE

According to the by-law 734-99, "It is forbidden for any dog’s owner, in the town of Gaspe to let it roam on the streets, sidewalks and public spaces and on private property without the consent of the owner of such properties. A dog on a leash and accompanied by his owner, however, can walk on the streets, sidewalks and public squares of the municipality except where it is prohibited by signs by the municipality. "

Dogs are prohibited on the Jacques-Cartier’s boardwalk, cycle track and, during the summer, at the Haldimand beach in the area being monitored by lifeguards.

Moreover, according to article 6 of this by-law "Any dog barking or whining so as to disturb the peace or to be a serious nuisance to the neighborhood, is considered a nuisance and his owner is liable to a fine under regulation. "

Failure by the owners to respect this notice, the town reserves the right to take the appropriate procedures.

Any violation of this regulation will also be liable to the fine provided in the by-law. Dog owners are invited to respect the regulation.

Notice is also given that the officers of the Sûreté du Québec are authorized to enforce the by-law in force.

Is it also important to note that the Town of Gaspé is actually reviewing its dog by-law and that citizens will soon be consulted regarding any changes that may be made to the by-law in force.
